It seems that the boys always manage to have a limb or two hanging out of the crib when they sleep. I finally grabbed the camera the other night because Jonathan's little leg looked so cute dangling through the slats.

This was taken just before I said, "Jonathan Asher Moore!" in my stern motherly voice.
And this was taken just after I said that. Notice the immediate draw back of the hands as if to say, "Don't worry! I wasn't even thinking about touching those crackers mom. In fact, I don't even know how they got here!" Never mind the fact that he had some tucked away in his cheeks like a little hamster. It looks like we have another pantry raider on our hands...a trick he surely learned from watching his naughty big brother.

These three pictures were actually taken last weekend at Joshua Smith's 2nd birthday party. We decided to let Jonathan do a practice round of cupcake eating to prepare him for his own birthday. He went to town on that cupcake!
Jonathan is a member of Baskin Robbin's Birthday Club so we took him out on Thursday night for his free scoop of ice cream. It looks as though we have another ice cream lover in the family!
"Hey, where are you going with that?"
We had a birthday party planned for Jonathan on Saturday but sadly he woke up with a fever on Friday morning that eventually spiked to 105.1. He was one sick baby and was in no condition to be the guest of honor at a party. Not to mention the doctor was pretty certain that what he had was quite contagious and thus being around other children was definitely not a good idea. So, it goes without saying that we had to cancel his party. This picture (above) was taken Saturday night. I think his temp in this photo was 104. Can you tell he feels awful?
God is good and gave Jonathan a little window on Saturday where his fever was only 101 and we were able to sing "Happy Birthday", eat cupcakes, and open gifts. If you look closely you'll see peas on Jonathan's tray along with his cupcake. He hadn't eaten much of anything all day and I didn't like the idea of a Funfetti cupcake and ice cream being his main sustenance for the day. The peas helped round out the meal, don't you think?
We think we have the culprit! It looks as though Jonathan has a classic case of Roseola. He has been fever-free since yesterday morning and when he woke up from his nap today he had a rash on his face, back, and tummy, and by the end of the day it had spread to his arms and legs. Praise God! The doctor told us (with a fair amount of certainty) that Jonathan had Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease which is not only AWFUL (blisters on/in your hands, feet, and mouth, vomitting, diarrhea, fever, etc. for 7-14 days) but is also highly contagious. Roseola is quite simple...a sudden high fever that lasts for 2-3 days followed by a rash, which by the way doesn't hurt or itch or anything, it's just there. And that's it. So we're hoping it's Roseola and that it's not Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease just taking it's sweet time to show itself.
On Thursday night we returned from a relaxing 10-day vacation in Mammoth. We stayed in a perfect little rustic cabin near the shores of Twin Lakes and we had a wonderful time! We enjoyed several day hikes, a trip to the fish hatchery, shopping in town (including quite a few stops for $1.99 triple scoops from Rite-Aid), board games in the cabin, and fishing on the lake. The picture above is just one example of the beauty of God's creation that we were surrounded by daily. Thank you again Scanlon Family for letting us use your cabin. We were truly blessed by our time up there.
As always, it was great to spend time with Jacob and Stacy and we were so glad they were able to join us on this trip!
Mommy with her little Monkey
Not only is he excited to "a go a hiking Daddy" but he's also so proud of his new orange hat!
A little pow-wow with sticks, rocks, and pine needles.
We packed a lunch for Jonathan but as you can see he was more interested in eating rocks.
Aden had a blast feeding the fish at the fish hatchery.
Doesn't that backdrop look like a painting? It was real, I promise!
"A go a fishing in a boat Daddy?"
One afternoon Jonathan swiped this plum off the counter and played with it like it was a ball (batting it around, picking it up and throwing it, etc.) for quite some time. After about 30 minutes I noticed that it had gotten really quiet in the cabin and that's when I found Jonathan in the corner eating it! He had finally figured out its intended purpose! Anyway, it was totally mushy from all the playing but he loved it! I moved him to his highchair (to minimize the mess) where he proceeded to eat the entire thing. I even had to fish the pit out of his mouth.
The family who owns the cabin is in the process of painting it, so Daniel and Jacob decided to help out by doing some of the work. They did a great job and they enjoyed themselves too!
Aden thoroughly enjoyed life in the mountains and woke up everyday excited about the adventures that awaited him.
Here is the little mischief maker who made his way INTO our cabin while Daddy and the boys napped on the sofa completely unaware of his presence! I was outside reading and didn't notice him until he was on his way out!! YIKES!
I know, I'm no artist but Aden sure was impressed =)
